Woodfired Pots

Here are some images of work I made and fired in the wood fire described in the previous entries. We used lots of salt in the firing and it created a beautiful mother of pearl surface on some of the pieces.

Woodfire Weekend

This weekend I participated in a terrific wood fire sponsored by the Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons and run by the terrific Nancy Robbins, accomplished clay artist and president of the guild. The firing couldn't have gone smoother. Thanks to Nancy and my fabulous stoking mates CC and Debbie.
Converted paper mill served as studio and lodging.

Stacked kiln ready to fire. "After" shot coming soon.

Stoking! Gorgeous brand new kiln with 14' chimney.

I know I look hot in more ways than one.

The lure of the fire.

This past weekend I participated in CraftBoston, a premier craft show at the World Trade Center in Boston, MA.  200 vendors from jewelry to furniture each had a booth showing their handmade, beautiful work.  I was quite impressed!  There is so much original work out there, no one should have any reason to give all their dollars to the big box stores.  Plastic is not good for you or the environment anyway.  Thanks to all those that put the show together and to those that showed up to shop in these challenging economic times.

Sunday, March 22, 2009

I had some new work photographed by a great photographer and friend Caryn Posnansky.
Check out her website at www.carynleighphotography.com
Look for new work at my booth at CraftBoston, on my website and in my etsy shop soon.
